## How it works

1. ### Forward the email

   Use your email app's “Forward” button. You don't need to add anything.
2. ### We check it

   Our system reads the forwarded message, checks every link, and runs an AI review.
3. ### You get a reply

   Usually within a minute: the risk level, the warning signs and what to do.

## Good to know

- We read only the message you forward, only to check it. The content is not stored after we reply. See our [privacy notice](https://tapsafely.com/privacy).
- Remove anything very personal (like account numbers) before forwarding if you can.
- Screenshots in the email body aren't read yet. Upload them on the [checker](https://tapsafely.com/?tab=image#check) instead.
- There's a limit of a few checks per minute per sender to prevent abuse.

### Tip for families

Save check@tapsafely.com as a contact called “Scam Check” on your parents' phones. Then “forward it to Scam Check” becomes a habit.

## Questions

Is it safe to forward a scam email?

Yes. Forwarding doesn't activate anything in the email. Just don't click links, open attachments or reply to the sender before you forward it.

How do I forward from Gmail, Outlook or Apple Mail?

Open the email and choose Forward (in Gmail, the arrow under the message or the three-dot menu; in Outlook, Forward in the toolbar; in Apple Mail, the arrow button). Type the check address and send. Forwarding as an attachment also works.

What do you check?

The sender details, the wording (urgency, payment requests, threats, prizes), every link (who really owns it, how old the domain is, where it redirects) and an AI review of the whole message.

Do you keep my email?

No. The message is read only to check it and is not stored after we reply. We keep an anonymous count of the scam type and risk level for Scam Weather.

What if I don't get a reply?

Check your spam folder, and make sure you forwarded from the address you want the reply at. You can always paste the message into the checker on our home page instead.
